Those Manchester City fans at Wigan on November 28 witnessed a rare occurrence.
In the champions’ 2-0 win they saw Mario Balotelli score a Premier League goal - something that has not happened anywhere else this season.
But City supporters worrying that Super Mario may have lost his magic would have been encouraged by his finishing in an Under 21 game for the club last week.
Although there was barely a City fan in sight at the club’s Platt Lane academy base the Italian scored twice and won a penalty as his side ran out 4-0 winners over Blackburn.
The Italian took advantage of horrific defending to fire neatly into the corner to open the scoring, before picking up a Denis Suarez pass to rifle low past the keeper after setting up a yard of space with his first touch for his second goal.
Balotelli even turned down two chances to take a penalty and secure his hat-trick during the game, which came just a couple of days after his training ground bust-up with Roberto Mancini.
The 22-year-old hasn’t started for City since the 3-2 loss against Manchester United a month ago and has only made one Premier League appearance since, as substitute in Sunday's 2-0 win at Arsenal.
